Day 8: Lake Eleven, Jerry Lake, Mondeaux Esker

Today dawned hot once again. Ugh. I can’t wait for the cooler weather to drift in. The bulk of the hike through Lake Eleven was just beautiful, and along an almost-perfect path, often soft pine needles. The last two miles got a bit rough, with downed trees and overgrown vegetation. Jerry Lake was scruffy, with lots of downed trees and overgrown sections. But both were well marked, and that’s always a good thing! Started Mondeaux Esker before quitting for the day.

Oh, have to mention that the Mondeaux Esker is enormous, and quite stunning. An esker is a long, narrow, winding ridge of glacial debris. To me, it’s one of the most recognizable features of past glaciers.
